Rain slows a forest to its component parts: the drip, the pool, the green expanding underneath. The Secret Life of Moss finds Harmonic Pathways tracing that slowdown across eight pieces built from piano, guitar swells, and layered synthesis, threaded with birdsong, running water, and weather recorded across Ontario’s Great Lakes region. The title track grew from a rainstorm at Awenda Provincial Park, where a mat of moss on a glacial erratic became a question about where an individual ends and a collective begins. Descending piano lines and patient chord movement carry that question through to the close.
