Waves recorded on the beach of Atoll Bathalaa and windswept birdsong from the coast of Ukulhas open each piece on Whispers of Bathalaa, the album Andrea Accorsi built from field recordings gathered during a journey through the Maldives. Piano threads through soft synth pads and slow-building string swells, with cello stepping forward on later pieces to carry the harmony into longer, more expressive territory. The eight tracks move at the pace of the atoll itself: gradual, patient, each new texture allowed to arrive in its own time.
