Field recordings of rain, water and birdsong root Moris, Vol. 1, Le Morne‘s tribute to his home island of Mauritius. Each of the four tracks traces a real place he returns to, from the coastal sweep of Balaclava to the highland descent of Chamarel, with natural sound woven directly into the compositions. Built from a single continuous pad line per track, the music unfolds through improvisation: piano notes placed sparingly rather than carrying melody, singing bowl, and synth textures that shift and layer as they go. The result is unhurried and organic, string-like pads and natural recordings sitting together as one lush, breathing whole.
